About Bourton Road Butchers
We are a family run butchers in Carterton town centre. We have something big chains cannot replace...trust, tradition & personal service. We take pride in knowing our customers & helping you choose the best meat for every meal.
Our story so far
From taking on the shop to finding our feet, here's how Bourton Road became what it is today.
Taking Over The Shop
We took on the butchers in its original Carterton premises, nervous, excited, and ready to learn.
Meeting Des
Des had been a butcher all his working life. He took us under his wing and taught us everything we know.
Catering On The Road
Pig roasts, BBQs and buffets, we started taking the shop on the road.
A New Home
We moved just up the road to our current shop. A small move on paper, a mammoth one in practice.
Opening The Takeaway
In March 2021, we started our takeaway food, and here is our first customer and one of our favourites.
Remembering Des
Des passed away in December, a dear friend and mentor whose name still comes up in the shop most days.
Winning The BRAVO Award
In October 2023, we were nominated and won a BRAVO award for best business, presented by RAF Brize Norton. BRAVO stands for Brize's Recognition Award Valued Outstanding Service.
Becoming The Café & Deli
What started as a takeaway has grown into a proper café and deli. Pop in for a cuppa and a bite as well as picking up your meat.
